The Story
Running larger-than-stock tires on your LR3 or LR4 is one of the most rewarding upgrades you can make to these Rovers. The ground clearance improves, the stance looks right, and the capability on the trail goes up with it. But there is a mechanical reality that comes along with the lift, and understanding it is the key to getting the most out of your build.
When lift rods are installed on an air-suspension, they work by signaling the air ride sensor to continuously overfill the air bags in order to reach the new target ride height. The system is doing exactly what it is designed to do, but the result is that the air bags are held under sustained additional pressure to maintain that lifted position. This places the air bags outside of their intended operating range, and the ride quality suffers for it.
The Proud Rhino SYA strut-mounted spacers solve this problem at the source. Rather than relying entirely on overfilled air bags to hold the vehicle at its lifted height, the spacers mount directly to the top of the strut and take up that space mechanically. With the spacers in place, the air bags no longer need to be overfilled to maintain the lifted stance. They return to a fill level much closer to their factory operating pressure, which brings the suspension geometry back toward its original design intent and restores the air suspension's natural ride quality. The result is a lifted Rover that rides the way Land Rover intended it to ride.
Important: The SYA spacers must always be installed in conjunction with Proud Rhino Lift Rods. The spacers add no physical lift to the Rover on their own and should never be installed without lift rods. All four kit variants in this listing are designed to be used as part of a complete Proud Rhino lift system.
Beyond the ride quality and geometry benefit, the SYA system also addresses one of the most well-known vulnerabilities of the LR3 & LR4 air suspension platform. Stock bump stops are sized for near-stock tire fitments. If the air suspension were to fail with oversized tires fitted and no spacers in place, the Rover would drop until the tires made contact with the wheel arches, locking it in place entirely. The SYA strut-mounted spacers raise the effective lower limit of suspension travel so that even in a full air suspension failure, your Rover retains enough clearance to roll to safety rather than becoming stranded on the trail or on the side of the road.
Lucky 8 offers four kit configurations. Select the one that fits your current suspension setup and how you plan to use your Rover.
The SYA Street Kit (PRSYAS) is the foundational option, designed for owners whose Rover already has Proud Rhino Lift Rods installed and who drive exclusively on the street. It includes the complete strut-mounted spacer kit with all spacers, airline extensions, and mounting hardware.
The SYA Street Kit Plus (PRSYASP) adds a set of Proud Rhino 2.5 in (63.5 mm) Lift Rods to the complete spacer kit. It is the street-use kit built for a Rover that is currently on stock suspension and needs both components installed together to complete the system correctly.
The SYA Off Road Kit (PRSYAOR) is engineered for Rovers that already have Proud Rhino Lift Rods installed and will be driven off-road. It adds a set of four limiting straps to the complete spacer kit. When the spacers are installed, downward suspension travel increases, and that additional droop introduces real risk of over-flexing the CV joints and axles during full off-road articulation. The four limiting straps cap that droop and keep the drivetrain protected throughout every flex cycle on the trail.
The SYA Off Road Kit Plus (PRSYAORP) is the most complete configuration in the lineup and is designed for a stock-suspension Rover that will be lifted and taken off-road. It combines the full strut-mounted spacer kit with a set of four limiting straps and a new set of Proud Rhino 2.5 in (63.5 mm) Lift Rods. Two rear strap locking tabs are also included to prevent the limiting straps from chafing against adjacent components during use. This is the all-in-one build kit for a Rover going from stock to trail-ready in a single purchase.

FAQ
How do I know which kit variant to select from the dropdown?
The right choice comes down to two questions: does your Rover already have Proud Rhino Lift Rods installed, and do you plan to drive it on the street or take it off-road? If your Rover already has lift rods installed and stays on the street, the Street Kit (PRSYAS) is the right fit and includes the strut-mounted spacers, airline extensions, and all mounting hardware. If your Rover is on stock suspension and will stay on the street, the Street Kit Plus (PRSYASP) includes the spacer kit and the Proud Rhino 2.5 in (63.5 mm) Lift Rods needed to complete the system correctly. If your Rover already has lift rods installed and you plan to take it off-road, the Off Road Kit (PRSYAOR) adds four limiting straps to protect the CV joints during trail articulation. If your Rover is on stock suspension and you are building it for off-road use from the ground up, the Off Road Kit Plus (PRSYAORP) includes the spacer kit, limiting straps, lift rods, and rear strap locking tabs in a single package.
Does installing the SYA kit affect my Rover's ride quality?
Yes, and in a meaningful way. When lift rods are installed on an air-suspended Land Rover, the system responds by continuously overfilling the air bags to reach the new target ride height. This holds the bags under sustained excess pressure and pulls the suspension outside its intended operating range, which affects ride quality. The SYA strut-mounted spacers address this directly. By mounting to the top of the strut and taking up space mechanically, the spacers allow the air bags to return to a fill level much closer to their factory operating pressure. With the bags no longer forced to overextend to hold the lifted height, the suspension geometry returns toward its original design intent and the air suspension's natural ride quality is restored. Owners consistently report a noticeable improvement in on-road ride comfort after the complete SYA system is installed alongside the lift rods.
Can I install the SYA spacers without lift rods?
No. The SYA strut-mounted spacers must always be installed in conjunction with Proud Rhino Lift Rods and should never be fitted on their own. The spacers add no physical lift to the Rover. Their function is to work alongside the lift rods to relieve the air bags from the excess pressure created by the lift, allowing the suspension to operate correctly at the new ride height. Installing the spacers without lift rods would serve no purpose and is not a supported configuration. If your Rover is currently on stock suspension, select either the Street Kit Plus (PRSYASP) or the Off Road Kit Plus (PRSYAORP), both of which include the Proud Rhino 2.5 in (63.5 mm) Lift Rods as part of the complete system.
What do the limiting straps do and why do the off-road variants include them?
When the SYA spacers are installed, they increase the total downward travel range available to the suspension. On the street that additional droop rarely comes into play. Off-road, the suspension articulates through its full range regularly, and that extra droop can push the CV joints beyond their safe operating angle, leading to binding, accelerated wear, and potential joint failure on the trail. The four limiting straps included in the Off Road Kit (PRSYAOR) and Off Road Kit Plus (PRSYAORP) place a hard cap on that droop travel, keeping the axles and CV joints operating within their design limits regardless of terrain.
Please note: The SYA Kit is designed to enhance your Rover's performance and functionality. On some vehicles, when set to Access Mode, the vehicle may detect the SYA Kit and prevent it from remaining in Access Mode.
